Doing a 5 day experiment...

I am on day two of an experiment that is rough for me to do. I am quiting artificial sweeteners. I am already seeing results. On low carb my sugars would go down all day long. I baffles the dr's but over night it goes up. So one of the things that changed over night is well my sugar didn't go up!!  I will keep you all up to date on this as it goes along.

I am back

I am back on track. I had knee surgery Dec 20th, 2012 to replace my ACL and fix up both of my meniscus.  I feel the best when I am low carb. My wife is going to do this with me as well. It is going to be nice to have the extra support. She always supported me but she doesn't really have any weight to lose.  She is doing it for different reasons.

I feel off the wagon a few times, got back on it and fell off it again

Dr appt today

Today I find out what this diet is doing to my body. I totally expect my cholesterol to be higher than it was before. I think the rest of my numbers will be much better. I feel outstanding!

I added Paleo Dan's website to my RSS reader today. Love reading blogs from real people and the results they are having. So inspiring.

What if fat doesn't really make you fat?

I am in the middle of reading Gary Taubes book "Good Calories Bad Calories" and let me tell you he makes a convincing argument that the science for the SAD(standard american diet) is killing us. If you want to read something interesting read this article written by Gary for the new york times titled  "What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?" Maybe make some bacon to eat while you read. :)

Day 3 of no soda

Diet soda has been a major addiction for me in my life since high school. I don't know why that is exactly. Most days all I drank was diet soda with no water. I do think that for some reason diet soda caused the health problems I ended up getting. I am hoping it is gone out of my life from now on. I know there are stevia sodas but I am worried that if I drink those it may lead me back to my addiction. What do you all think?

Headaches and a salute to a low carb hero

I have been headaches lately. I suppose I need to be drinking a lot more water.  I hope that fixes my problem.

I want to highlight a blogger every blog post for awhile since these websites have had a great influence on me: Diabetes Warrior Steve Cooksey's website has had a great influence on me for the past year, year and a half. He is an inspiration to me especially since he is a fellow diabetic and has made himself healthy without the following the ADA's (american diabetes ass.) advice. He has proved that they are funded by the pharmaceutical, chemical, and soda companies. This is pretty huge when you look at the motivations for telling people to eat sugar then fix the blood sugar with metformin and insulin. That's is not morale.  Steve eats a all natural diet. I respect that. I am striving for that as well. He is a pretty active on twitter and facebook helping save people's lives. Thanks Steve!

Lost 60 lbs so far.

I have flirted with low carb for awhile now. On June 10th, 2011 I finally did it, I committed to the low carb lifestyle after playing around with it for a week here and there  My highest weight I have recorded was 395.5lbs. I am now 334.2lbs.  I really miss sitting in booths and going to amusement parks.  I sat in a booth today. I am including a graph of my weight over the last 2 years. Every time I lost weight it was from doing low carb. Every time I gained was when I cheated.

I also have a history of major allergies. I have been tested to be very allergic to everything but cockroach.  They said I would probably be allergic to cockroach if I lived in a region that they were around.  I have gotten allergy shot for around 9 years of my life. I fired my allergy dr. I also fired my  ENT dr.  In the last 20 days I only have taken one allergy pill. I feel better allergy wise then I have ever really. I still am allergic to things but it doesn't stick with me.  As soon as I leave the offending allergen I feel normal. My mucus is clear for the first time in 22 years. I don't have post nasal drip anymore!


I am currently off all medicines. With the money I am saving on meds I can buy more steak and bacon, the real medicine!
